Constitutional Council: Ruling on Post-electoral Petitions Today

The hearing on the 18 post-electoral petitions will begin at the Constitutional Council at 11:00 a.m. this October 16, 2018.
The October 7, 2018 electoral process will enter another decisive phase today, October 16, 2018 as the Constitutional Council will rule on the 18 post-electoral petitions submitted by three of the candidates in the election and two other political leaders.
The Secretary General of the Constitutional Council, Malegho Joseph Aseh in a press release signed on October 13, 2018 said the public hearing to rule on the post-electoral petitions will begin at 11 a.m. in the Hall of the Constitutional Council situated at the Yaounde Conference Centre.
Joshua Osih Nambangi, candidate of the Social Democratic Front (SDF) in his petition called for the total cancellation of the presidential poll arguing that it was marred by irregularities that could jeopardise national unity and the sincerity of the results. On his part, Maurice Kamto, candidate of the Cameroon Renaissance Movement (CRM) called for the partial cancellation of the polling operation in the North West, South West, Adamawa, North, Far North, East and South Regions.
Cabral Libii Li Ngue Ngue of the UNIVERSE party in his petition called for the cancellation of the entire presidential election. Bertin Kisob, President of the Cameroon Party for Social Justice (CPSJ) whose nomination papers for the election were rejected by ELECAM filed 14 petitions.
