15th Edition of RIFIC : Artists Learn Better Stage Acting

Comedy and Cinema are arts that need no force to be portrayed. This was disclosed during a Master’s Class organized during the 15th Edition of the ‘Rencontres International des Film Court’ (RIFIC) on October 29, 2019, at the Cameroon Cultural Center (CCC) in Yaounde. The theme of this year’s festival is “Le court métrage et ses publics”. The purpose of the Master’s Class was to teach actors and artists on the role of acting on stage. The lesson was given by Nathalie Varack, a Senegalese actress, and it saw the participation of over 400 youth from various associations amongst which ‘Associations des Dames de L’image du Cameroun (ADAMIC)’ headed by Elise Kameni, a Cameroonian comedian. To make the lesson practical, Nathalie told everyone present to improvise a play and act it on stage. They had to do this following the three basic questions an actor has to ask himself on stage which are; ‘how do I feel?’ how does someone’s presence impact me on scene?’ and ‘how do I feel in front of an audience? The workshop was also attended by some icons of Cameroonian comedy like Catherine Mela, Blanche Bilongo Deneuve, amongst others. 
For this year’s edition, a variety of activities have been organized and include; ‘Ciné-école’, Master’s class, ‘Soirée Allemande’, projections of short films for children and adults, and a closing ceremony that will take place on Saturday, November 2, 2019 at the ‘Sita Bella’ hall.
