Toeing the Line of Action

The political wheel can be likened to the coat of many colours. It is this multifaceted nature of politics that makes it such a complicated and complex phenomenon. Simply defined or scientifically as  the set of activities associated with the governance of a country, State or area, politics has come to impose itself as the engine that drives society, the purveyor of development and the hot potato in the mouth of those who play it. This complexity is what makes the game of politics so slippery. Cameroon happens to be going through very difficult and trying moments epitomised by the crisis in the North West and South West Regions of the country. Three years have gone past and the atmosphere remains heavily charged with tension as the number of deaths continue to rise. Sporadic skirmishes have not stopped completely even though the situation seems to be under control but dissenting voices continue to animate the air.
Non Governmental Organisations both national and international have, since the political crisis gained ground in Cameroon a few years back, tried to play a preponderant role in bringing a solution to the problem but from every indication their intervention has not been helping matters. Rather, any time an NGO especially one that deals with human rights issues, intervenes after an incident, an unsatisfactory dust is raised leading to heavy criticism from government. Considering the consequences this state of affairs could bring to bear on peace development in the country, the Minister of Territorial Administration in his role as custodian of the national territory and its administration, yesterday, March 09, convened a meeting with national NGOs to size up the situation and ensure that they do not overstep their bounds in the exercise of their duty.
In effect, the whole issue has to do with  publishing reports that reflect the happenings on the field. NGO reports on the massacres in Ngarbuh and Babanki in the North West Region, the killing of the innocent baby in Muyuka in the South West Region, the brutal murder of Florence Ayafor and many others have systematically been attacked and debunked by government for their partiality.
