CAF Club License Exigencies : An Opportunity To Exploit

To better football in Africa, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has set out stringent rules and regulations which clubs should follow to get what the body calls “CAF Club license”. As it stands now, Coton Sport of Garoua, Les Astres of Douala, Panthère Football Club of Nde and Fovu Club of Baham are the only Cameroonian clubs with the licence. Some anonymous sources have it that the request of PWD of Bamenda for the licence was recently approved.
The CAF Club license had existed in the past years, but this time around, the African football governing body is hammering on its position that participation in any CAF inter-club competition is dependent on the CAF license. Perhaps, the desire to be eligible for such competitions when called up maybe a spurring factor for clubs in Cameroon to meet with the criteria which go a long way to boost the structuring of football outfits. 
According to a document containing the CAF Club Licencing Regulations, the criteria are; Sporting, infrastructure, Administrative and personnel, Legal and Financial. The objectives of the infrastructure criteria are to guarantee that the license applicant has an approved stadium, and training facilities, amongst other exigencies. The objectives of the sporting criteria are to induce the license applicants to invest in quality-driven youth development programmers, value the young players training and contribute to their education and foster medical care of their youth players.
