“The Boss” narrates the story of the head of a public establishment who has turned his office into a private business and not only known for his pleasure in indirect illegal affairs but also for personal interest in influencing his subordinates. The movie titled “The Boss” is the author’s modest contribution to raising public awareness in particular and Cameroon in general on certain scourges of society such as corruption and bribery, lack of social security, mediocrity in public offices and the abuse of power trusted on civil servants.
It is a short story with an African setting that centres on a main character Adolf, husband to Sera and office boss to Nelson and Johnson. Adolf is not only known for his pleasure in indirect illegal affairs of corruption and bribery, but he also uses his influence over his collaborator’s wife.
Bribery and corruption is part of Mr Adolf’s daily routine, as he benefits from it, alongside his accomplishes making life hell to any honest person that comes his way. Besides corruption, Adolf’s collaborators (Nelson and Donald) could be heard discussing on how their boss has added lying to his criminal career and takes bribe like hell!
Although his collaborators attempt to call him to order, Adolf proudly says, “We who are wise are above the law. Only fools may lost their jobs and even go to prison. The only law I cannot break is the unmade one”. As the saying goes "99 days for the thief and one day for the owner”. Nobo...
