Promotion of Research, Innovation/ Culture : Central Africa Gets Five New Projects

The beneficiaries are being sensitised on the financial and administrative management of the grants and the expectations from financial consortium.
Ahead of the implementation of the PRICNAC (Promotion of Research, Innovation and Digital Culture in Central Africa) projects, the Agence universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF) and its partners are currently meeting at the conference hall of the Chantal Biya International Reference Centre for Research on HIV/AIDS Prevention and Management (CIRCB) to sensitize and train the different project leaders on the financial and administrative management of the grants and to inform them about the expectations of the members of the Consortium and the financial backers. This is taking place ahead of the actual start of activities of the mico-projects, three of which are from Cameroon, and two from the Democratic Republic of Congo. For the first phase of the project, funding of between 150,000 euros (98,393,550 FCFA) minimum and 155,000 euros (101,673,335 FCFA) maximum have been made available to each of the beneficiaries of the five projects. The beneficiaries are the Office for the Development and Implementation of Community Development- BEM-PRODEC, an NGO from the De-mocratic Republic of Congo. Their project is on support for local traditional knowledge and indi-genous peoples favorable to mi-tigating the effects of climate change in Kasaï Central in the DRC. The Catholic University of Bukavu- UCB of the Democratic Republic of Congo through its projects will be strengthening individual learning and improving the quality of training through access to digital resources at UCB and the Higher Institute of Computer Management in Goma. The Cameroon Youth Tech Incubator- CAYSTI will be spearheading a project on Cameroon 3D Printing for Education.
