Private Sector Calls for Inclusion in Policy Implementation

Four days of deliberations, exchanges and reflections on how to further Cameroon's economic growth ended in Douala on Friday with a clarion call from the  private sector to be included not only in the elaboration of national development policies but also in their implementation.
One of the most important outcomes of the Douala Economic Forum is the recommendation on how people, councils and communities, generally, can work together to effectively advance the development of the country. The participants which were business people, economic and financial experts from the public and private sectors in Nkongsamba, Edea, Bafoussam, Douala and the diaspora came up with proposals on how to tackle not only Douala's development problems but also those of the entire country and proposed the creation of a public-private platform for collaboration to enhance synergy of action. The diaspora, in particular, showed lots of interest in supporting the activities of the city of Douala probably through the Diaspora Fund which can finance the development of decentralised collectivities.
