Polio Immunization : Third Round Starts on Friday

The 3rd round of local immunisation days against polio outbreak starts on Friday, November 4, 2022 and ends on Sunday, November 6, 2022, throughout the Littoral Region. The objective is to strengthen collective immunity of children from zero to 59 months in high risk zones. The target is to get at least 95 per cent of parents involved.
The information was made known by the Coordinator of the Expanded Vaccination Programme in the Littoral, Ewane Leonard, with reporters at the Regional Delegation of Public Health in Bonanjo, Douala, on Monday, October 31, 2022.
Special vaccination teams will go around homes and stand in public places administering two drops of oral polio vaccine, and vaccines against other vaccine-preventable diseases like measles, yellow fever and neonatal tetanus. They will also offer catch-ups for children who missed their routine vaccination for the different vaccines.
The Coordinator of the Expanded Vaccination Programme called on parents to ensure that all side effects are notified for proper management. The campaign begins with an official launch on Friday and proceeds with special teams going from door to door and standing in public places including schools, markets, parks, tollgates, big junctions, chiefs’ places, churches and mosques as well as any other places where people can be found.
Parents are called upon to ensure that their children receive the two drops of the vaccine whether they have before been vaccinated or not.
