Lionel Messi’s Argentina have an easy-looking start as they will be facing one of the lowest ranked sides in the World Cup. The South Americans are on a 36-match unbeaten run with top scorer and captain Lionel Messi leading the troops. Likely being at his last World Cup, the 35-year-old player with a plethora of achievements, will be in search of the elusive honour that would grant him honourability at home; that of winning the World Cup.
Argentina have qualified for their 18th FIFA World Cup, with Qatar 2022 being their 13th participation in a row. They lifted the trophy twice; 1978 and 1986 and hope to add another title in this edition. Head Coach Scaloni was pained to lose midfielder Giovani Lo Celso to injury but he still has an enviable range of talent, from the likes of Cristian Romero and Lisandro Martinez at the back to Leandro Paredes in the middle and the evergreen Angel Di Maria to connect with Messi upfront.
