The book looks at efforts for peace and anti-corruption and suggests ways to evade conflict traps.
Peter Essoka and Julius Awafong have written a revealing, comprehensive analysis of issues raised in the former’s trilogy: “Stand Up, Be Strong, Don't Quit,” “Lamentation for a Beloved Country,” “Journeying to My Emmaus,” each of which is a compendium of his reflections on some national and continental issues presented on State-owned CRTV National Station as a practicing journalist and as one on retirement. The analysis also contains issues raised in Essoka’s reflections that were not broadcast.
The 193-page, three-chapter-book titled “Politics, Corruption and Conflict in Peter Essoka’s Reflections on Cameroon: An Analysis” is by CWG Press in Florida, USA, in November 14, 2022.
In its content is the State-centred approach used in understanding the concepts of sovereignty, patriotism, institutions, change and continuity, democracy, tradition and modern politics, elite, kinship, corruption in the contemporary era, anti-corruption drive, relationship between peace and conflict and how to evade conflict traps. It also presents their social upshots.
The book is a careful exploit of some contemporary scenes, and the authors embark on a journey through each of them in plausible dexterity. From the chapter “On Politics” through “On Corruption” to “On Conflict” is a keen attempt at sustaining reader’s attention from the common description of society’s informative dogma through analysis of the benefits of peace, saneness in management and mutual cohabitation unto a suggestive way forward.
