Investing in Douala Port : Japanese Investors on Prospection Mission

After different presentations, the investors were taken around the Douala-Bonaberi port for assessment of opportunities yesterday March 15, 2023.
It was a busy day on Wednesday, March 15 for some Japanese investors who came to get first-hand information on how to invest in the Douala port. The meeting with the Douala Port Authority (PAD) was also for the Japanese investors to discover the normalization, renovation, modernization and development of the structure and superstructure being implemented. It was also a great opportunity for the PAD authorities to discuss the extension of the port to the Manoka Island in the Douala VI Subdivision.
While presenting the potentials of the port, the General Manager of the Douala Port Authority Cyrus Ngo’o sounded off that the PAD is in full bloom and there are a good number of construction and reconstruction, and rehabilitation projects that has been completed and many were still underway. He added that of recent a lot of work have been done including the rehabilitation of roads within the port area, the construction of roads in the downstream area at Essengue, the construction of a multipurpose dock at the wood terminal, the construction of 10 modern warehouses of international standards. The takeover of the container terminal and creation of its unit (RTC) with CFA 54 billion in turnover and approximately CFA 14 billion in profit at the end of 2022. He also added that the extension of the port to Manoka will go a long way to deal effectively with the increase in maritime traffic on its platforms.
