2023 Women’s Afrobasket : Lionesses In Turkey

The national women’s basketball team is in Istanbul where they are fine-tuning their skills ahead of the competition that kicks off on July 28, 2023 in Kigali, Rwanda.
The 26th edition of the Women’s Afrobasket competition will take place in Rwanda from July 28 to August 6, 2023. Ahead of the competition, the national women’s basketball team is in Istanbul, Turkey, where they are fine-tuning their skills. The players are training under the supervision of head coach, Ahmed Mbombo Njoya. The players and the coach are working out winning strategies in order to put up the best performance in Kigali.
. Reports say the players are in top form and ready for the kick off come July 28. While in Turkey, the basketball Lionesses will play friendly matches with some local teams. The Lionesses played their first test match against the Tunisian U20 basketball team on July 21, 2023. That will give an opportunity for Coach Ahmed Mbombo Njoya to evaluate his players. The team is expected to travel to Kigali on July 26, 2023 to get used to the environment before the competition.
Prior to their departure for Istanbul, the players trained twice daily in their hideout in Yaounde. The objective of the team before leaving the country was to bring home the trophy.
