Several days after the holding of the Municipal and Regional elections in the country, some stakeholders are still to come to terms with the outcome. While some are celebrating their victorious, others are reflecting on what went wrong before and during the voting exercise. No matter positions, it is time to get back to work. This implies that, none of the stakeholders should as from now, go to sleep. To the ruling Rally of Houphouëtists for Democracy and Peace (RHDP), under the auspices of President Alassane Ouattara, emerging victorious with a big margin from the just ended Municipal and Regional elections is a job well done, but not enough to think that the 2025 presidential election would be an easy ride.
While strategizing on how to consolidate their supporters and also woo many others, they should have in mind that the smooth holding of elections also depends on how peaceful they will settle their internal squabbles. At 81, President Alassane Ouattara who has several times expressed his intention to hand over power to the youths, would have to remobilize his team by making his position known early enough to avoid division within party ranks. Here, party discipline would be an indispensable ingredient to keep the RHDP political family together. Now that over 20 ministers of the party have each won in their regions, it would be very difficult to make a choice without hurting some of his closed collaborators. But as democrats, no matter the choice that is made by the incumbent, they are all expected to put hands together to maintain their party in power.
