Hip hop Music : When The Wise Ought To Pay – Keener - Attention

Cameroonian artistes have repeatedly been blamed for their alleged resort to obscene themes in their music. Especially sex, which has tended to be banalised. But not so for Edi-win Chenny, a hip hop artiste. After 8 years of releasing 11 single songs, Edwin Chenny - as his real name goes - is set to make it big! By joining the trail of Cameroonian artistes with albums on the market. It is due for launch on February 3, 2024. In Placeside Snack Bar, near Carrefour Biyem-Assi, Yaounde. 
“The general message of the album is wisdom and life’s lessons. The album title, “Word 2D Wise” suggests imparting guidance and knowledge. My aim is to share life’s lessons and insights through music,” explains the part-time artiste, a 28-year former school teacher. Who now works for an international micro finance in Yaounde. Who hails from Mbah, Ndu Subdivision in Donga-Mantung Division in the North West Region. The album was produced by EdiPro Beats, Mbiitchtangem and IronBits. While the songs were recorded by C Studio and Black Home Studio.
The seven-track album also carries messages on social awareness and empathy. “The album seeks to address social issues, particularly through songs like “Lullaby,” which is dedicated to orphans and street children. This suggests a message of empathy and a call for attention to the less fortunate,” Edi-win says. While a song like “Dangote” depicts a persistent hustler suggests a message of motivation and self-belief. “It encourages people to face challenges and strive for success, despite their circumstances,” Chenny notes.
“It feels like the culmination of everything I've been working towards, musically. These songs represent a period of intense growth and exploration, and I'm finally ready to share them with the world. It's like cracking open a secret diary and letting everyone read my stories,” Edi-win says of his premier album.
Explaining why he chose the title “Word to the Wise,” which is coined artistically as “Word 2D Wise,” Edi-win says he has over the years tried to make his music message-based. And so his pioneer album carries a word of wisdom for any wise listener. The album is made up of 7 songs: Lullaby featuring Mac Kelly; Ntangu; Choh Chuu; Ribakéh (the video was released on January 13, 2024); Dangote featuring Wingo; Proud and Dan Know. 
Word 2D Wise will be officially released online on all social platforms like Boomplay, Spotify, Apple music, YouTube, Facebook, TikTok and so on.
