Cameroon-Chad : Birds Of A Feather!

Cameroon and Chad are two neighbouring and brotherly countries within the central African sub-region with much in common. The two countries are members of both the Lake Chad Basin Commission and the Central African Economic and Monetary Community (CEMAC). They therefore share the same challenges and absolutely need to federate their efforts in solving common problems so as to progress together. Recurrent mutual visits of top-level officials of the two countries, usually to evaluate cooperation and seek better ways of working as a team, suggest a lot of commonality. They are therefore birds of a feather who are bound to flock together! Obviously so as the two countries share land and maritime boundaries around the Lake Chad Basin and neighbouring localities have huge similarities.
That President Paul Biya yesterday January 30, 2024 received another special delegation from Chad’s Head of State at Unity Palace tells of the time-honoured nature of Cameroon-Chad relations. Led by the country’s Minister of State, Secretary General at Chad’s Presidency, Mahamat Ahmat Alhabo, the delegation came slightly over a week after he received Chad’s Minister of the Economy, Planning and International Cooperation, Mahamat Assouyouti Abakar, on January 19, 2024, who was bearer of a sealed message from President, Mahamat Idriss Deby Itno. These and others are special moments to iron out differences, talk face-to-face and seek joint solutions to common problems affecting the countries and peoples.
Clearly so as Cameroon and Chad are two countries that have evolved side by side for several decades on the path of development. The hallmark of this mutually-beneficial relationship certainly remains the Chad-Cameroon Pipeline that draws its source in Chad and crosses into Cameroon, enabling Chadian oil to be shipped from Cameroon ports.
