As a two-time AFCON winner, what could be going on in the minds of the teams that are playing the semi-finals today?
The four teams are thinking about winning the competition but before winning the trophy, they have to win the semi-finals first. Nobody is thinking about losing the semi-finals. The bottom line is that they are assured of two more matches. The semi-finals and the third place/final. In all, I think teams should promote fair play. At the kick-off of the tournament, there were 24 teams vying for one title and only one team can take home the glory.
What is your evaluation of 2023 AFCON spectacle this far?
We are witnessing a very high level spectacle. I am very happy with the level I am seeing. Congratulations to the teams, the coaches and the Confederation of African Football for the job well done. If we get this quality of tournament, it is because some teams are working hard to upgrade their level and it is being seen on the football pitch. I am really impressed because things have changed today compared to what obtained in the past. Games have become very unpredictable. It means that we have really improved and I am very pleased.
