Drug Abuse : Youth School On Dangers

This was during an educative talk organised on 8 February 2024 by the authorities of Lycée de New Bell.
New Bell neighbourhood in the Douala II municipality is noted for being a hub of different social ills. These social ills have been transmitted in every aspect of life within the neighbourhood including schools. To curb this social ill and others in the school milieu, students of Lycée de New Bell or GBHS New Bell have been drilled on the dangers of drug consumption on their health, wellbeing, and the community at large. This was during an educative talk organised by the school on February 8. Young people who persistently take drugs often experience an array of problems, including academic difficulties, health-related problems (including mental health), and poor peer relationships, and they become delinquent. Additionally, there are consequences for family members, the community, and the entire society.
Reasons why the Principal of GBHS Newbell, Epey Arrey Jackline Nkongho Ndiparrah, explained that it was important for the students to be aware of the dangers and stay away from drug consumption. She said they invited ex-students to drill the students and to raise awareness on drug abuse.
