Confederation of African Athletics : Members Discuss Major Challenges

A session of the Executive Board of the institution opened in Yaounde yesterday, April 15, 2024.
The future of athletics on the continent and the supervision of athletes has been a major concern for the Confederation of African athletics. It is this light that a session of the Executive Board of the Confederation of African Athletics (CAA) opened in Yaounde yesterday, April 15, 2024. The comes up three months to the 2024 Paris Olympic Games and three weeks to the 23rd African Senior Athletics Championships that will take place in Douala, Cameroon in June. It is equally the first executive board meeting of the CAA since the re-election of the Cameroon’s Kalkaba Malboum as president of the institution in May 2023.
Speaking at the opening, the Secretary General in the Ministry of Sports and Physical Education, Joseph Yrima emphasised on the 23rd edition of the African Athletics Championships in Douala. He said it is an opportunity that African athletics officials must seize in order to ensure that they have the maximum number of athletes to qualify for the Olympic Games in Paris next July-August. He ended by wishing the participants fruitful deliberations during the meeting.
