Nkul Nnam International Semi-marathon : Rafiq Arouaoui Emerges Winner

The esplanade of the Yaounde City Council was exceptionally busy on Sunday April 28, 2024. The event was the fourth edition of the Nkul Nnam International Semi-marathon. Close to 3,000 athletes from seven countries took part in the competition. They are Algeria, Djibouti, France, Switzerland, Lebanon, Kenya and Cameroon. The competition was organised by the Cameroon Masers Athletics Federation under the supervision of the Cameroon Athletics Federation (FCA). 
The event unfolded in several categories according to age groups. The veteran athletes ran through some streets in Yaounde covering a distance of 21km. This year’s event comes up on the eve of the National Unity Day in Cameroon. Despite their ages, the athletes produced remarkable performances.  In the 40-44 years category, Rafiq Arouaoui from Algeria emerged overall winner. He was followed by Tchokoua Felix (Cameroon) and Soulemanou Oumarou (Cameroon). In the 35-39 years category, Voffo Momo (Cameroon) was first. Enah Yima Landry (Cameroon) was second and Tchummo Foussouo (Cameroon) was third. In the 45-49 years category Nyame Roland (Cameroon) was the winner followed by Kong Edouard (Cameroon) and Ntangirin Casimir (Cameroon). In the women’s competition, Queen of the mountain, Sarah Etonge was the winner.
Speaking at the occasion, the President of the Cameroon Olympic and Sports Committee, Kalkaba Malboum, congratulated the President of the Cameroon Master Athletics Federation, Leonie Etong, for the honour she has brought to the country and Africa in general.
