2024 Interpools : Good Start For Union Abong Mbang

Union Sportive of Abong Mbang began the 2024 Interpools tournament on a good footing. The club from the East Region beat Options Sports of Bamenda 2-1 in their first game in the competition that took place at the FECAFOOT Technical Centre in Odza, Yaounde, yesterday, August 1, 2024. Being the first match of the day in Group A, the encounter pulled crowds from the nooks and crannies in the capital city. It was grueling encounter that kept fans shouting at the top of the voices, chanting at the same time encouraging the players. 
Union Sportive of Abong Mbang began by dominating the game with maturity and a good play style. However, Union lost most of their scoring chances. Options Sports of Bamenda put up a strong fight but they equally squandered their scoring chances. The two teams put up good performances but they lacked good finishing. Both teams separated at half time on a 0-0 score margin. On resumption, Options Sports opened scores at the 48th minute through Ezikiel Tabot. The goal served as a booster for Options Sports who were out to maintain their lead and even score more goals and for Union Abong Mbang to improve on their game. Union Abong Mbang continued with their onslaught putting more pressure upfront. That paid off for Union Abong as they were able to score two goals during the second half. The goals were scored by Bertrand Medjo and Omaric Ndang. All efforts by Options Sports of Bamenda to increase scores were futile.
