2024 National Interpools : Atlantic S.A Crowned Champions

They defeated Union of Abong Mbang 1-0 in the final yesterday at the Ngoa-Ekelle Stadium. The duo was playing for supremacy after already picking their elite two tickets.

Atlantic S.A of Kribi, the representatives of the South Region, are the champions of the 2024 National Interpools after a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Union Sportive of Abong Mbang (U.S.A) from the East Region. The decisive match took place yesterday at the Ngoa-Ekelle Stadium.
While the final was a battle for supremacy, the real prize had already been secured by both teams. Atlantic and U.S.A had both clinched promotion to the second division following their respective semifinals victories on Friday August 16, 2024. Atlantic edged out Centre Region's Mintack FC in a penalty shootout, 0-0 (8-7) while U.S.A overcame Volcan of Noun in a similar fashion, 1-1 (3-2). Both games that were rich in both electricity and tension were played at the Ngoa-ekelle Stadium.
Yesterday’s final encounter was therefore more about pride than points. The first half was a relatively subdued affair as both sides appeared content to feel each other out. However, the second half saw a marked increase in intensity, with Atlantic breaking the deadlock through a well-taken goal from Laurent Nkoa less than 10 minutes into the second half. U.S.A desperately sought an equalizer, and their efforts almost yielded results in the dying minutes when they were awarded a free-kick in a dangerous position.
