The ceremony to award medals to players and staff of the military women’s football team took place in Yaounde on Wednesday August 14, 2024.
It was an exceptional day the Ministry of Defence in Yaounde on Wednesday August 14, 2024. The event was a ceremony to reward medals to players and staff of the military women’s football team who participated in the 13th and 14th Military Women’s World Cup that took place in the United States and the Netherlands.
Speaking at the occasion, the Director of the Department of Sports, Cultural and Artistic Activities, Colonel Raymond Serges Kaole Aleokol (DSACA) said the event aimed at appreciating the players for their performances in the two competitions and to show them the commitment of the Ministry of Defence. He also used the occasion to thank the parents who allow their children play with the military women’s team. General Melingui said the medals were only presented to the players but the Minister will organise the official handing over ceremony in the months ahead. Meanwhile, the players of the national military women’s team are bracing up ahead of the 15th edition of the Women’s Military World Cup that will take place in Pyongyang, Democratic Republic of Korea in October 2024.
As part of their training, the Lionesses are equally playing friendly matches with some local teams in the country.
