MTN Elite One : YOSA In Distress

The one-time Cup of Cameroon winners, that marvelled in the Play-offs of the championship last season, sit bottom in the ongoing league with just one game won in 12 matches.

The once-celebrated Yong Sports Academy (YOSA) of Bamenda is experiencing a dramatic and concerning collapse in the current MTN Elite One season, a stark contrast to their recent successes. The 2013 Cup of Cameroon winners, who thrilled fans with their Playoff Up performance last season, now find themselves languishing at the bottom of the league table. YOSA's quick fall is shocking. In 12 matches played, the “Yellow Submarines” have managed a solitary victory, three draws, and a dismal eight defeats, accumulating a mere six points. This places them at the foot of the standings. The club has conceded the highest number of goals this far (23) and has scored just eight.
The 2024-2025 campaign began disastrously for YOSA. From the outset, the team struggled to find its rhythm. After four matchdays, they were winless, managing only a single draw amidst three defeats, immediately placing them in the relegation zone. While a 2-0 victory against AS Fortuna on the ninth playing day offered a brief relief, it proved to be a brief moment of success. This lone win did little to alter their position at the bottom of the table. The team's struggles are compounded by significant off-field issues. Early in the season, YOSA faced a serious threat of expulsion from the league due to alleged non-compliance with the Cameroon Football Federation's (FECAFOOT) requirements.
