Creation of Rumpi National Park : Traditional Rulers Lobby Headquarters’ Location

The Prime Minister Head of Government, Joseph Dion Ngute received some traditional rulers from Ndian Division on March 7, 2025.
Cameroon, known as Africa miniature, is blessed with several natural resources. One of them is the Rumpi Hills Wildlife Reserve, a 452 square kilometres area located in the Ndian Division, South West Region. The government is working on creating a national park in the locality, which will promote ecotourism and generate some revenue for the State. The flora and fauna around the Rumpi Hills is incredible. The forest reserve encompasses about 72 villages and 19 farm settlements. Upon hearing of government’s decision to institute a national park in the area, some traditional rulers, led by Chief Mukete Joseph Nebale, Chief of Betenge Balue village and President of the Balue Development and Cultural Organisation from the Ndian Division, came and met the Prime Minister on March 7, 2025 to lobby for the headquarters’ location. “We came here to meet our father the Prime Minister Head of Government because we have two burning issues that we said we should come and talk to him. The first one is the proposed Rumpi National Park that will soon be created. The proposed park will have to unite the Rumpi Reserve with the Rata Hills to make it a national park. So we came to meet the Prime Minister to plead that the headquarters of the National Park be placed in Ndikume Balue,” Chief Mukete Joseph told reporters.
