Commonwealth Day : Fostering Shared Prosperity

The 2025 edition of the Commonwealth Day was commemorated yesterday March 10 at the Ministry of External Relations.

Thriving together as a family of nations to achieve shared opulence, was at the centre of activities to mark the commemoration of this year’s edition of the Commonwealth Day. Commemorated under the theme, “Together We Thrive,” the Minister Delegate to the Minister of External Relations in charge of Cooperation with the Commonwealth, Felix Mbayu chaired activities to observe the day in Cameroon, in the presence of several members of government and High Commissioners of Commonwealth member countries. The message of His Majesty King Charles III, Head of the Commonwealth, was read at the event by Victor Tibue, a staff at the Ministry. It called on greater collaboration to enhance the common wealth of member States.  
Highlighting on this year’s theme, Minister Felix Mbayu said it underscores the pre-eminence of the deep cooperation within the Commonwealth to share values which include international security, good governance, youth empowerment, capacity building, fair trade and climate change. Noting that the theme of the last five years (2018-2025) of the Commonwealth Day have highlighted the necessity to chart the path for a common future, the Minister said celebrations have therefore gone beyond a mere tradition. The vision for this year and beyond, he added, projects the need of thriving together, an aspect highlighted by the President of the Republic during the presentation of New Year wishes to him by the Diplomatic Corps, in which he emphasized on the need for togetherness to overcome challenges. “The theme evokes a defining moment of out match into the future and echoes the need of promoting the values of the rule of law, family, unity and peace. The Commonwealth has been working with stakeholders to foster community growth and knowledge-based enhancement,” Felix Mbayu said....
