This weekend saw a range of performances from Cameroonian footballers playing abroad.
It was a weekend of mixed fortunes for some Cameroonian players plying their trade abroad. André Onana delivered a strong performance in goal for Manchester United against Arsenal. The game played in Old Trafford on Sunday March 9, 2025 counted for match day 28 of the English Premier League. Despite conceding a goal to Declan Rice, Onana made five crucial saves, contributing to a 1-1 draw. Bruno Fernandez scored for Manchester United. Onana's solid showing helped Manchester United secure a point, moving them to 14th place with 34 points. Still in the premier league, Carlos Baleba continued his impressive form for Brighton & Hove Albion. Playing as a defensive midfielder, Baleba was instrumental in Brighton's 2-1 comeback victory against Fulham on Saturday March 8, 2025. Despite Fulham taking the lead through Raúl Jiménez, Brighton responded with goals from Jan Paul van Hecke and João Pedro. Baleba played 86 minutes, making 48 passes and achieving an 89.6 per cent pass accuracy.
Bryan Mbeumo faced a tough challenge as Brentford hosted Aston Villa. Despite his attacking prowess, Mbeumo was unable to break through Aston Villa's solid defense. Ollie Watkins scored the decisive goal for Aston Villa, leading to a 1-0 defeat for Brentford. Mbeumo's efforts were thwarted by a well-organized Villa defense, contributing to Brentford's 12th defeat of the season, leaving them 12th in the Premier League with 38 points.
