Decisive Week for Presidential Candidates

Many candidates are drawing the balance sheet of the first week of campaigns as they begin the last week today.
The nine candidates running for the October 7, 2018 presidential election and their representatives are criss-crossing all the nooks and crannies of the country to woo voters as the D- Day of the poll draws nearer. Towards the end of the first week, many of the candidates talked on embarking on proximity campaigns to be close to electors.
The strategy is practised at different degrees. Representatives of incumbent President Paul Biya, candidate of the Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement (CPDM) launched campaigns simultaneously almost throughout the country after which they focused on proximity campaign. President Paul Biya set the pace for another twist of the campaign on September 29, 2018 when he opened campaign in Maroua. Before this, CPDM campaign teams in the South Region organised a mega rally in Ebolowa on Friday.
Beginning from tomorrow, Tuesday, October 1, 2018 President Biya’s campaign teams will organise Mega rallies in some regional capitals. The rallies for tomorrow are slated for Ngaoundere , Bamenda and Bertoua. On Wednesday, there will be rallies in Bafoussam, Ebolowa and Garoua. All these mega meetings will take place simultaneously with doorto- door campaigns that have been going on.
The candidate of the leading opposition party, Social Democratic Front (SDF), Joshua Osih has been visibly present on the field with marathon campaigns rallies that rumbled off in Douala. Last weekend, he started campaign from N’Djamena in Chad and crossed to Kousseri in the Far North Region of Cameroon from where he moved down and was at Ngaoundere in the Adamawa Region on Sunday, September 30, 2018.
