Promoting Cocoa Trade: Gov’t To Award Bonuses To Local Producers

The exercise overseen by the Ministry of Trade also encourages farmers to use formal channels for marketing their products

Organizations and individuals cultivating and commercialising cocoa in Cameroon have been invited to submit applications to benefit from a bonus payment scheme. The call for applications is contained in a release issued by the Minister of Trade, Luc Magloire Mbarga Atangana last weekend. The Ministry of Trade will be receiving submissions from October 16 to November 16, 2018 through its divisional delegations nationwide.

Going by the release, only cocoa growers who show proof of having successfully produced and sold cocoa of Grade 1 or Good Fermented, and are duly registered in the directory of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development will be beneficiaries of the bonuses. They are expected to submit documentations approved by competent authorities and sales documents signed by both the vendor and the buyers.
