Building Trust on Quality of Certificate of Origin

Business people have begun to acquaint themselves with procedures for issuing of the electronic document that was introduced in 2021.

Exporters, authorised customs brokers and staff of the regional delegations of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Handicrafts of Cameroon (CCIMA) were trained those 7th and 8th of September in Douala, to acquaint themselves with the treatment of online Certificate of Origin. The purpose was to train the participants on and create awareness as regards the electronic procedure for issuing the certificate by CCIMA.
The training is the first in a series that has begun bringing together exporters in the Littoral, North-West, West and South-West regions. There is the participation of partner financial institutions like those dealing in digital money to reinforce their capacities. The training is organised by CCIMA in partnership with the Single Window on External Trade (GUCE) with the financial support of the European Union (EU) through its Competitiveness Support Facility for Cameroon, as part of its commitment to support the implementation of the Economic Partnership Agreement signed with Cameroon and which entered into force in August 2016.
During its opening on September 7, 2022 in the Conference Room of CCIMA in Bonanjo, Douala, the Director of Finance and Administrative Affairs of CCIMA, Mohamadou, highlighted that at the end of the series of training, it will no longer be possible to obtain manually a Certificate of Origin because all operations will be carried out electronically.
