Cameroon-France : Ever Growing Relations

Bilateral relations between Cameroon and France are historic and span across several domains including diplomacy, security, health, education, culture, economic and finance. Various personalities of both countries continuously work at strengthening ties and making them mutually-beneficial. These relations were further consolidated yesterday November 8, 2022 during an audience the President of the Republic, Paul Biya granted the French President’s Adviser on African Affairs, Franck Paris at the Unity Palace. The Head of State and the French official reviewed Cameroon-France relations, touching on current and future programmes. 
Politically, several high-level meetings have been exchanged between the Presidents of France and Cameroon and other senior officials. In October 2019, during the visit of Jean-Yves Le Drian, (the then Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs of France), he expressed the wish that the remainder of the C2D money, i.e. 62 million euros (approximately FCFA 41 billion) be mobilised for the implementation of the recommendations of the Major National Dialogue, accelerating the decentralisation process and the reconstruction of the North West and South West Regions. In addition, he announced that an envelope of FCFA 30 billion will be devoted to the development of the Far North Region. France supports governance mechanisms and other political reforms adopted by government that enhance democracy.
