CHAN 2022 : Algeria, Libya In Tournament Opener

The seventh edition of the TotalEnergies African Nations Championship (CHAN 2022) will take place from Tuesday January 13 to February 4, 2022 in Algeria. According to the official programme from the Confederation of African Football (CAF), the opening match will pit host, Algeria, against Libya at the newly-built Baraki Stadium in Algiers January 13, 2023 at 8:00 p.m. It will be a North African derby between neighbours. CAF published a slightly altered calendar on Tuesday December 27, 2022 with only one match scheduled for the opening day.
The Intermediate Lions will play their first match on January 16, 2023 against the Democratic Republic of Congo at the Olympic Stadium in Oran. The team is training at the CAF Excellence Centre in Mbankomo, near Yaounde. Training takes place twice a day at the centre. Coach Saidou Alioum and his boys are working out winning strategies to ensure an honourable performance in the competition.
