New Year Wishes : Conviviality With First Lady

Chantal Biya on January 7, 2023 received New Year Wishes from spouses of diplomats accredited to Yaounde and national dignitaries.
Best wishes for the year 2023 have been presented to the First Lady, Chantal Biya on January 7, 2023. Spouses of diplomats accredited to Yaounde and female national dignitaries, as well as officials of non-governmental organisations exchanged pleasantries with the First Lady in a convivial atmosphere during the ceremony which lasted several hours. In all, 28 delegations extended their warm wishes for the year to the First Lady.
First to present their New Year wishes was the delegation of spouses of the diplomatic corps accredited in Yaounde, led by Annie Biffot, wife of Gabonese Ambassador to Cameroon and Dean of the Diplomatic Corps. She read out a speech in which she said together with other wives of diplomats, they are wishing the presidential couple and family a year of peace and harmony. She noted that the traditional new year wishes ceremony had been interrupted for two years due to the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic. With 2022 not being an easy year, Annie Biffot said, it did not stop the First Lady from carrying out humanitarian activities. She said the First Lady, being a UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador has embarked on actions reflective of her title. Through the Circle of Friends of Cameroon (CERAC), Annie Biffot mentioned their charitable and social inclusion geared at helping the vulnerable population. She added that the First Lady spared no effort being a humanist through the year 2022.
After the spouses of diplomats, came 27 other delegations comprising officials from various sectors of social life. From female lawmakers, to mayors, officials of civil society organisations, entrepreneur, spouses of national dignitaries and those syndicates, as well specially invited guests all had a moment of smiles with the First Lady, which each of them having the opportunity to immortalise the moment with pictures.
The spouses of the Senate President and Speaker of the National Assembly led the delegations of wives of bureau members of the two Houses of Parliament. Female lawmakers led by the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon. Mary Meboka and Vice President of the Senat...
