CJTU : Trade Union Advocates Journalists’ protection

After touring the 10 regions, the national executive arm of the Cameroon Journalists Trade Union called on the authorities to ensure the security of media practitioners.
From time immemorial, the journalism profession has been under attack and many more organisations and trade unions have been up and strong calling for the security of journalists while also urging journalists to remain professional.
One of such is the Cameroon Journalists Trade union whose newly elected executive members embarked on a nationwide tour to clamour for the safety and security of journalists nationwide. Their tour was also to evaluate the working conditions of journalists as well as to caution Journalists to respect the tenets of the profession. While in the 10 regions, the national executive arm of CJTU met with the Governors and other top-ranking officials as well as security officials in the different regions. They also visited some media houses to evaluate the working conditions of journalists as well as to get first-hand information from their different chapter executives. Curtains dropped on the visit in the Littoral region on Wednesday, February 22, 2023, where they met with the Governor and also visited some media organs in the region.
