Sigh Of Relief

A few months ago, the world was shocked by an inhumane plan concocted by the British Government and that of Rwanda. The plan initiated under Prime Minister, Boris Johnson and continued by Liz Truss and Rishi Sunak, consisted of deporting migrants who arrive the British soil illegally to Rwanda. For months, because of the extensive legal challenges, no flights departed from United Kingdom to Rwanda despite the signing of a mouthwatering agreement between London and Kigali. As the debate raged, incessant international condemnations poured in, but the Conservative Party, time and again, insisted on pushing through the plan. 
At the eve and during the election campaigns, the Labour Party under the auspices of the new Prime Minister, Keir Starmer made the end of the deportation scheme one of its campaign priorities especially with a surge in small boat crossings expected over the summer. After a hitch-free voting exercise, power has now changed hands. The victory of the Labour Party has not only been a sigh of relief to the thousands of migrants, but to the entire world.
