Handball Cup of Cameroon : TKC, FANZ Are Winners

The Yaounde-based clubs triumphed during the competition that rounded off at the Mfandena Gymnasium on Saturday August 17, 2024.


It was a festive atmosphere at the Mfandena Gymnasium in Yaounde on Saturday August 17, 2024. The event was the finals of the 60th edition of the Handball Cup of Cameroon. Organised by the Cameroon Handball Federation (FECAHAND), the competition brought together teams from across the country. The competition unfolded in the veterans, junior, senior men’s and women’s categories.
In the men’s final, FANZ Handball Club of Yaounde beat FAP Handball Club of Yaounde 27-20 to lift the trophy. FANZ led from the start scoring four goals during the first four minutes of the game. The club came up stronger with swift and accurate passes from strikers like Wabila Fonkwa, Djeumaffo Ludovick, Dekou Desiré, and Ewane Ewoungo Raoul, among others. FAP however put up a fight with powerful shooters like Atanga Gerarld, Atangana Felix and Etoundi Ottou Axel, among others. At half time, the score line was 15-9 in favour of FANZ. On resumption, FANZ continued with their offensive putting much pressure on FAP. All efforts by FAP Yaounde to catch up with FANZ were futile. FANZ carried the day beating FAP Yaounde 27-20. That was the third consecutive victory for FANZ.
In the women’s competition, TKC Handball Club of Yaounde outplayed FANZ Handball Club of Yaounde 29-24. Tonnerre Kalara Club of Yaounde came from behind to beat Fondation André Nziko.
