Transfer : Vincent Aboubakar’s Club Dilemma

At his third stint with Turkish club, Besiktas, the Indomitable Lions captain, despite his past laudable inputs, might be leaving on a sour note going by recent lacklustre developments.

This time, the relationship between Vincent Aboubakar and Besiktas might end on a sour note. Just before the Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire, the Indomitable Lions captain was excluded from the first team squad alongside four others. Justifications raised by the club was “poor performances and incompatibilities with the team”. But Cameroonian fans could not reconcile these facts especially as to what concerns poor performances. He was being excluded at a time when he was the top scorer of the outfit with 11 goals by then. After a while, he was evidently later pardoned, resumed training and being fielded with the club again. 
Uncertainties about him and the club erupted again recently. The former Porto striker has been conspicuously absent from the Turkish club's pre-season plans, barely featuring in warm-up matches. This has fuelled speculation about the player's future. Reports suggest that the striker is demanding payment for the final year of his contract before considering a move away from Besiktas. Despite interest from other clubs, he has reportedly turned down offers. 
It is worth noting that the 2024-2025 Turkish super league season begins on August 30, 2024. Besiktas is expected to play its first match on September 1, 2024 against Sivasspor. Everything being equal, Vincent Aboubakar will not be able to start this new season with his club. Away from the current dilemma, country duties call.
