2024 Paralympic Games : Zero Medal For Team Cameroon

Five Cameroonian athletes represented the country in the competition that concluded Sunday September 8, 2024 in Paris, France.

The 2024 Paralympic Games concluded Sunday, September 8, 2024 in Paris, France with Cameroon among the close to 200 participating nations. Despite the efforts of their five-athlete delegation, Cameroon was unable to secure a medal. The Cameroonian team competed in para-taekwondo, para-athletics, and para-powerlifting. Their last hope for a medal rested on Marie Gisele Thamar, who competed in the women's -73kg para-powerlifting event on Saturday September 7, 2024. Unfortunately, Thamar finished fifth with a best lift of 108kg, leaving Cameroon medal-less for the games.
Arlette Mawe Fokoa, a 35-year-old para-athlete, struggled but could only finish eighth in the women’s shot put (F57) final. Yves Noé Batifi Loumou, who competed in the men's T42 high jump event, also fell short of a medal, finishing sixth overall. In para-taekwondo, Marie Antoinette Dassi, the reigning African champion, reached the semifinals of the women's -65kg event but was eliminated. She came close to winning a historic bronze medal for Cameroon but her opponents were too strong.
