Quality Rehabilitation Services: CBC Inaugurates Excellence Training Centre

The inaugural ribbon was cut in a ceremony at Ombe-Mutengene on January 25, 2025, by the Inspector General in the Ministry of Social Affairs representing Minister Pauline Irene Nguene.


The Rehabilitation Training Centre of Excellence (RTCE) constructed by the Cameroon Baptist Convention (CBC) Health Services has gone operational at its site in Ombe-Mutengene, in the South West Region. The state-of-the-art facility erected with the financial and technical support from the AFAS and Liliane Foundations provides cutting-edge rehabilitation training programmes to equip individuals with skills and knowledge to effectively serve persons with disabilities.  The excellence training centre, according to CBC Health Services officials, is intended to bridge the gap in the lack of trained rehabilitation personnel and poor quality of rehabilitation services in low and middle-income countries as highlighted by the World Health Organisation (WHO). Through the Baptist School of Public Health, the Rehabilitation Training Centre of Excellence has initiated various programmes such as Community-based Rehabilitation, Multi-skilled Rehabilitation, Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy. “The construction of the centre will address critical gaps in rehabilitation services within Cameroon and significantly contribute to the nation’s efforts to achieve WHO’s Rehabilitation 2030 Agenda,” Samuel Ngum, Director of CBC Health Servives pointed out while underscoring that the centre will benefit Cameroon and the Central Africa sub-region as CBC com...
