Decentralisation, Civil Status Registration : UNDP Pledges Improved Support

Prime Minister Joseph Dion Ngute, yesterday received the interim Resident Representative of the UN agency in Cameroon, Opia Mensah Kumah.
The interim Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Opia Mensah Kumah, has promised greater engagement of the institution in accelerating the decentralisation and civil status digitalisation process in Cameroon. He was received by the Prime Minister Head of Government, Joseph Dion Ngute yesterday February 25, 2025. The head of the UN agency, which is the implementing partner in the Presidential Plan for the Reconstruction and Development of the North West and South West Regions, also appreciated the pace covered in the programme since its putting in place.
To this effect, the UN senior staff noted that he was at the Star Building within the framework of reinforcing cooperation ties between Cameroon and UNDP. “This partnership covers decades and the objective is to ensure that the cooperation is enforced. I was discussing with the Prime Minister about the Presidential Plan for the Reconstruction and Development of the North West and South West Regions. We know how important this project is for the people who are there. We also talked about the programme for the stabilisation of Lake Chad, and the insurgencies of Boko Haram. What we heard is that the programme is appreciated and we are happy about that. We are convinced that if something goes well, then, it can go better. We are convinced to deliver better results in this area”, Opia Mensah Kumah stated.
