SOPECAM : Women Schooled On Good Eating Habits

An educative talk with a nutritionist took place at the corperation yesterday March 5, 2025, in Yaounde.

Female staff of the Cameroon News and Publishing Corporation dubbed SOPECAM have been counselled on how to prevent illness through good eating habits and lifestyle. This was during an educative talk yesterday March 5, 2025, in prelude to the 40th International Women’s Day. For close to two hours, Emilie Kabiwa, a nutritionist working at the Yaounde Gynaecological and Paediatric Hospital educated the women on the importance of healthy eating habits; for good nutrition promotes health and better manage diseases. Emilie Kabiwa told the ladies that good nutrition can support and improve the wellbeing of the body with the provision of essential nutrients needed to repair and maintain its key functions. She underlined that the food people eat supplies the nutrients the body needs to maintain brain, muscle, bone, nerves, skin, blood circulation and the immune system. 
Some of the healthy eating habits were that the ladies should not skip breakfast, do not get thirsty, eat less salt (not more than 6g a day for adults), base their meals on higher fibre starchy carbohydrates, eat lots of fruits and vegetables, cut down on saturated fat and sugar while eating more fish amongst others.
