State Building : Nigerian Businessman Presents Expansion Prospects

The CEO of the United Bank of Africa, Tony Elumelu stated his intensions of investing in other sectors besides banking during an audience with Prime Minister, Joseph Dion Ngute yesterday.

Prospects of investing in the electricity sector in Cameroon, by the Chief Executive Officer of the United Bank of Africa (UBA), Tony Elumelu have been made known to the government. This was during an audience yesterday February 25, 2025 granted to the Nigerian business mogul by the Prime Minister Head of Government, Joseph Dion Ngute, on behalf of the President of the Republic. The Nigerian is in Cameroon for the first-ever-Cameroon Economic Forum that holds in Yaounde on February 26-27, 2025 and is the keynote speaker of the event. 
Speaking to reporters, the UBA Chairman noted that he is happy to be in Cameroon, a country he calls his second home. “I am happy to honour the invitation of the President of the Republic through the Prime Minister Head of Government, to come and address the labour forum holding in Cameroon on February 26-27, 2025. We invest in Cameroon for over 17 years now and I just told the Prime Minister that we wear other hats beyond banking. We are in electricity generation in Nigeria,” the business mogul stated, adding that they have the capacity of generating 2,000 megawatts of electricity. 
To that effect, the Nigerian business magnet said, “We want to also invest in the electricity sector in Cameroon, from generation to distribution.
