Yaoundé : Merrily, Festivities Ended

A host of women attended a special luncheon offered by the First Lady of Cameroon to end activities marking the International Women’s Day.
The First Lady, Chantal Biya, joined scores of women at the Yaounde Hilton Hotel to honour the traditional gala rendezvous to close one-week of activities marking the 40th International Women’s Day in the country on the theme: “For All Women and Girls: Rights, Equality and Empowerment.” It was a short moment, but enriching as the women savoured the rich culinary and cultural heritage from the 10 regions of the country. Artistes such as Ayissi Le Duc et Otitie, Dina Bell, Marole Tchamba and Ndedi Eyango spiced the instant with rhythms that left the audience singing or dancing.
The ladies all began their day by participating in the over two-hour march-past at the 20th May Boulevard. Thereafter, all roads led to the Yaounde Hilton Hotel. In no time, all guests (members of government, members of the diplomatic corps and special invitees) had taken their seats. Good music from a band ushered the First Lady into the banquet hall. The Masters of Ceremony (MCs) gave a rundown of the event which was not just about eating and dancing, but also an occasion to revisit the rich cultural heritage of the country through musical displays. A musical band headed by Dr Félicien Ntoné, a music lover and other local artists took the audience through presentations that displayed the cultural heritage of all the ten regions of the country.
